Engineered quartz is not stone in the way granite is. It is roughly nine parts crushed quartz to one part polymer resin and pigment, pressed into a slab. The resin is what makes it non-porous and easy to live with, and it is also the part that decides how the worktop has to be cleaned.
Because it does not absorb, quartz never needs sealing, so nothing we do involves a sealer. What builds up instead sits on the surface: a soft film left by washing-up liquid, hard water marks around the taps, tea and turmeric staining, silicone smears left behind at fitting. That is what comes off, and it comes off without the high alkaline and bleach based products that quietly destroy quartz.

What Quartz Worktop Cleaning Covers
Quartz problems are nearly always surface problems. These are the four worth calling about.
Hard Water and Limescale Marks
Sussex water leaves white rings and scale streaks around taps and behind the sink. Strong acidic descalers can attack the resin and the pigment, so scale comes off a quartz safe way instead.
Tea, Coffee, Wine and Turmeric
Heavily pigmented spills sit on quartz rather than soaking in, but left long enough on a matt or textured finish they hold on hard. Most come away with the correct product and enough dwell time.
Fitting Residue, Silicone and Adhesive
Silicone smears, tape marks and adhesive along the edges and around the sink cut out are common after installation. These need a solvent the resin will tolerate, not a blade.
How We Clean Quartz, and What Quartz Cannot Take
The visit starts by working out what is actually on the surface. Julian cleans a small trial section, usually somewhere that will end up behind the kettle or under a board, so you can both see the difference before the whole worktop is committed to. From there the top is worked in sections with a resin safe cleaner, agitated with a pad chosen for that particular finish, then rinsed and dried so nothing is left to dry back on. Matt and textured quartz takes considerably longer than polished, because the texture holds on to exactly what you are trying to lift out of it.
This covers quartz worktops, islands, upstands, splashbacks and window boards in kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms. What no clean can undo is chemical or heat damage. Oven cleaner, caustic drain products, paint stripper and neat bleach dissolve the resin and leave a permanently whitened or dulled patch. A hot pan set straight down can scorch or discolour it, and quartz is genuinely not heatproof whatever the showroom said at the time. In both cases the material itself has changed, the repair belongs to a fabricator, and Julian will tell you that rather than sell you a clean that cannot work.
